Weekly Happening- May 15

HAPPY SUNDAY!! The beginning of a fresh, new week. I pray we both make the most out of our time this week. Last weekend was Mother’s day, and the Kentucky Derby- so we hosted a mother’s day celebration but Derby Themed! It was so much fun and Mack and I had a blast. I got my hat from Amazon, linked below.

Productivity Tip of the Week

The past two weeks I’ve shared my 5:30am morning routine (click here if you missed it) and I’ve been doing that routine for 3 days a week.  I’ve found it’s the perfect balance for me right now in my life.  I love those early mornings, but I am trying to get better about going to bed earlier so I can feel more refreshed upon waking without the help of caffeine.

Prepare, prepare, prepare is the tip of this week.  I love to make timed to-do lists for my days to keep me on track.  I find when I don’t do this, I spend way too much time procrastinating or just scrolling through my phone for way too long.  Before I know it, an hour has passed and I’m wondering what I did all day.  I try to set time blocks for work, for house work, and for social media planning/creation, and working out.  This way, I am much more productive.

By preparing a schedule for the next day, I am going to be more productive and stick to my schedule.  If I don’t prepare a schedule, don’t set out my clothes for the morning’s workout, don’t put my laptop charger and headphones downstairs to do my meditation and editing, I won’t get what I need done the next day and I’ll waste more time.

Motivational/Inspirational Message of the Week

Sometimes it feels good to wake up with zero plan for the day, and just sit on the couch binging your favorite shows and snacking on potato chips.  But you know what doesn’t feel good? It doesn’t feel good a year from now realizing you didn’t meet the goals you set for yourself and you are the only one to blame for that.

You have to be willing to make sacrifices for the long term good.  It may feel good to have one day to do nothing productive, and there’s nothing wrong with taking a break to not work so dang hard- I truly believe rest is as equally important for the soul and for your mind.  However, work harder during your “on” days so you can fully enjoy the off day and also not feel bad or stressed out about it afterwards.  My favorite thing to do in the summer is to plan one day a week where I’ll take off work, or one day on the weekend when I’ll plan nothing and literally write it on my calendar. I’ll get up whenever I want, start my morning slow, get a quick workout in, and then plan to sit in the pool and read for the rest of the day and not feel guilty.  Start thinking about a day or a half a day that works for you and your schedule to truly relax and meditate on how grateful you are for all your blessings.  It’ll make you feel more motivated and inspired in the long run, promise!

Outfit Favorites of the Week

Lululemon everything.  I recently tried a new activewear brand by Abercrombie, called YPB and it’s SO great, yes, but I’m just so spoiled now that I’ve really expanded my Lululemon collection.  It makes me feel good, honestly, knowing that the expensive activewear isn’t just for status or looks, but actually is the most comfortable active wear I’ve ever tried and I feel good and confident wearing it.  I’m linking my most worn items lately: Align leggings, Like a Cloud bra, Flow Y bras, and my Wunder Train leggings.  Oh and can’t forget the Scuba half-zips! My goodness I’ve worn these things daily since I got them in February.

Books I’m Loving

I’m still reading the 8 part series from Lucy Score called Blue Moon and I’m loving it so far.  It’s 8 novels, all over 300 pages and super cute, light books to read.  I’m now on to the 5th book. I’m reading every single night before bed and anytime I lay out with my Kindle, which is also water resistant- perfect for beach and pool reads!

Anything Else I have to tell you!

Something I’m trying to be better about is eating- it sounds so odd but I honestly forget to eat in the mornings because I’m not hungry until after 10am.  Well if I’ve started working first and haven’t worked out in the mornings, I start saying “I’ll workout first and then eat” because I can’t workout right after a meal.  Next thing I know, it’s been 3 more hours, I am starving, and I still haven’t worked out, and I can’t workout because I’m too hungry!

I’m going to start scheduling my breakfast times and my lunch times in my daily schedules to make sure I stop working and go eat.  I also need to work out in the mornings again and stick to that instead of waiting until lunch time. This past week I was a little too ‘lax in my AM routines. I was still getting out of bed at 5:30 but I was so tired from not getting enough sleep, even caffeine wouldn’t help, and I just didn’t make myself workout until afternoon or evening.

We will see how that helps! Meal prepping is also so important- make sure to make a meal plan for your week and get your grocery shopping completely done so you always have a stocked fridge/pantry of fresh, whole foods that keep you motivated! Make it easy on yourself to eat through the week.

Xoxo, Jess
