Productivity Tip of the Week

A good solid morning routine will do wonders for the rest of your day.  It will increase your mood, skyrocket your productivity levels, and it’ll make you sleep better that night too if you get up earlier! I tried something new in my morning routine last week and fell back in love with it; waking up at 5:30 AM and getting my workout done before my work day starts.  I started working from home in September and really got out of the habit of getting my workouts and my morning routine done before 8AM when I need to be logging on to work for the day.  I kept using the excuse that I needed my sleep, which is important, yes, but shouldn’t be an excuse for sleeping in when you need to get up and get the day started.  I was also working out during my lunch hour because I could and honestly it’s so difficult to stick to that plan when the work day gets out of control and by lunchtime if I haven’t eaten I’m way too hungry to workout, so I eat and then don’t work out… it hasn’t been the best schedule for me!  I’ll share more of my morning routine next week, because I’m really perfecting it and want to start doing my 5:30 AM routine 3 times a week.

Motivational/Inspirational Message of the Week

Consistency is key.  I wrote that in my planner for this week because I often get in the mindset that if I don’t go 10,000% with my goals, why even start.  For example, this morning routine at 5:30 AM is something that I want to do every week day, and maybe even on one weekend, because it feels SO good knowing I’ve done the most important tasks of the day and my workout first thing in the morning.  However, I also know that it’s not realistic for me.  It could be if I really needed it to be, and it used to be my daily routine for years when I worked in an office.  I know myself at 5:30AM, though, and if I say I have to wake at that time every single morning I’ll quickly revert back to breaking that promise a few times a week and then I’ll feel guilty about it and eventually won’t wake up that early for months (which is where I’ve been lately).

I decided 3x a week is plenty to reach my goals and the other mornings I can wake up a little later around 6:30-7, my normal wake up time lately.  This way, when that alarm goes off at 5:30, I know that this routine is only a few days and I really need to stick with it.  After a few months, maybe I’ll surprise myself and get up that early more than 3 times a week but what really matters is staying positive and proud of myself, and if that means setting the bar a little lower for success, I’m all for that.

Outfit Favorites of the Week

My scuba hoodies from Lululemon have been perfect for the spring morning temps and working from home.  I reach for them every single morning.  By the time it heats up in the afternoon, I’m reaching for my Align shorts which I have in the 6” length.  I am stalking Mercari and Poshmark for some more of these in fun colors for spring and summer because they are the only short I wear anymore!

Books I’m Loving

I’m still reading the 8 part series from Lucy Score called Blue Moon and I’m loving it so far.  It’s 8 novels, all over 300 pages and super cute, light books to read.  I’m now on to the 5th book. I’m reading every single night before bed and anytime I lay out with my Kindle, which is also water resistant- perfect for beach and pool reads!

Anything Else I have to tell you!

Last Sunday, Easter Sunday, was the first weekly post I skipped since July of last year… that’s WILD.  I was able to schedule and post my weekly YouTube but when it came down to making this post it just didn’t happen.  I’ve learned that you win some and you lose some and it’s okay as long as I don’t make a habit out of things like that.

Xoxo, Jess
